I realised I was tired after my early start and the adventures in London, so I headed off into the countryside and found this gorgeous little church: St Mary's in Fawkham.
It's an old Saxon church, opened daily by a team of volunteers. Unfortunately today the rota must have got messed up, as it's still locked. But behind the church is this huge open space like a huge piece of parkland, with benches tucked away in the bushes. Perfect on a summer's day.
So I've prayed a little and slept a while on the cool green grass. Feeling very refreshed now and ready to roll on a little further.
What an amazing pilgrimage this will be for you! We will keep you in our prayers as you travel the highways and byways. God bless you, dear friend,💕Bakers
ReplyDeleteThanks, Martha. Wish the pilgrimage could somehow extend to Colorado so I could see you both again!
DeleteGreen pastures ..
ReplyDeleteGlad you had some rest at St Mary's Fawkham - a peaceful spot and one I once knew well! We lived in a cottage in Fawkham once upon a time, and worshipped in that benefice, sometimes at that church.
