Salvatore climbs back into the cab of his recovery truck to take Rocinante on her last journey.
I spoke with three mechanics this morning, and they all agreed on three things. First, Rocinante's engine was almost certainly damaged beyond repair. Second, a repair or replacement would be extremely costly. Third, they were so backed up with work she wouldn't even get the work done for two or three weeks.
From all three I learned a new word: autodemolizioni. Basically the Italian word for scrapyard.
So I spent a long, hot and slightly dispiriting afternoon with Autodemolizioni Longagnani in Baggiovara going through the lengthy paperwork involved in scrapping a foreign vehicle, then picking up the bike.
I am now a pilgrim on foot. One more night at the hotel then ... well, then whatever comes next.
Praying that God finds a solution for you. 🙏🏻
ReplyDeleteHow brave of you to carry on. I will be praying for you 🙏
ReplyDeleteOh so sorry, Rocinante has become like a friendly character over the last
ReplyDeleteWeeks. praying for whatever God has in store for you next xx
She will be mourned and missed. 😥
DeleteSo sorry to read this, Chris. Praying that God will provide for the rest of your pilgrimage
ReplyDeletePraying for blessing and guidance for the pilgrimage ahead.
ReplyDeleteHow far do you have to go? Blessings for the remaining journey, however you travel.
ReplyDeleteHow dreadful for you, now I'm worrying 😟 What is your plan B? My school taxi driver suggested we drive out and pick you up, wish I could. So many questions, hope you will be answering them in your future blogs. Take care xx
ReplyDeleteI'm with you ll the way. more important, Jesus is walking by your side.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry you are being challenged this way Chris and have lost your trusty steed.
ReplyDeleteAll shall be well, take time to rest and think what next. 💜🙏
I expect to see you have picked up a hobby horse, or maybe a real one to take your not-so-trusty steed's place.
ReplyDeleteHey! She was very trusty. 100% reliable. Right up to the moment that she groaned, chucked oil everywhere, started smoking out of the sides, and stopped dead never to start again!
DeleteMay Jesus give you the graces needed to make the best of a tough situation. We are continuing our prayers for you. It is wonderful that you made it this far and have beautiful memories of your prayer places. Thank you Lord for being with Chris and giving him comfort and strength! God bless you, dear friend, Martha and Don
ReplyDeletePoor Rocinante!! Hope you're doing okay now
